This month on Décor Talk, we’re talking to the lovely Aminah of @neatly.living! We love following her Instagram for her gorgeous, modern décor and DIYs, and we were so excited to chat with her about her décor style, inspiration, and tips!
Hi Aminah! Tell us a bit about yourself?
I never know what to say when someone asks me this question. I’m a fulltime working mom in the healthy industry. We’ve been living in sunny Arizona for the past 15 years. I’m usually a very reserved person and being in the spotlight makes me quite nervous but I’ve had to step out of my comfort zone since creating our Instagram account to chronicle our home update and DIY journey.
How would you describe your décor style?
It took me a long time to really narrow down a description of our home décor style. I’d say modern with an eclectic twist. A lot of our furniture are quite modern, but we use bold accent walls and the occasional pops of color to add some fun and interest throughout our home.
Where does your décor inspo come from?
Pinterest is probably my number 1 go to source for fun and creative inspiration. I’ve also been inspired by a lot of home décor and DIY Instagram accounts which has been so awesome. Of course, we take these ideas and put our own special touch or twist on them to truly make the final design our own.
What are your home décor essentials?
Oh, that’s easy! I love vases of all shapes and sizes, paired with some beautiful faux stems! Throw blankets are also a must for me. I don’t think you can ever have too many. Get you a great set of home decor books as well. They offer great inspiration and doubles as beautiful décor pieces.
Any décor tips you can share for someone wanted to refresh their space?
The quickest way I refresh a space is by switching up my pillow covers! It breathes new life into a space. Also, move your décor pieces around. Shopping your home is very much real and a great cost saving way to keep things fresh in a room.
Describe your perfect Saturday?
Gosh, my perfect Saturday would be a lazy day with our girls, curled up in bed and watching some fun movies.
Any dream home upgrades or renos?
When we built our home almost 4 years ago, we couldn’t afford to have our dream stairs installed. It’s definitely a goal we’re working towards and I hope one day we can make it happen! I also can’t wait to update our master bathroom!
Anything else you’d like to add?
My home décor style has evolved over the years and I’m finally at the point where I’m so comfortable with our style. We take bold risks, use a lot of black and while that may not be for everyone, it’s perfect for us. Whatever your style is, own it and embrace it wholeheartedly. If you love it, then it can never be wrong!
